Book news

You’ll find a picture of my Surviving Capitalism on page 33 of the most recent New York Review of Books! OK, it’s an ad which Anthem Press took out, but anyway. As far as I’m concerned the NYRB is the place to be seen. Read the book, or at least buy it. In the U.K. you can get it for 7.50 and in the U.S. for a mere $12 bucks. In Taiwan it costs 943 yuan? and you can get it here.

It seems Cambridge UP is finally bringing out the paperback of my Identity, Interest and Action on July 31. This at least according the Amazon web page. CUP has been changing the publication date a number of times and for a while it was set to November. I’ve emailed them but they don’t respond. Anyway. If the book appears on Monday, pick it up!

Compare these two book news: Anthem is small and vigorous and they do what it takes to sell books. Cambridge, the old clunky super-prestigious publisher, is doing very little for its authors. It took 10 years to get a paperback out and they are not even responding to emails. Are they even in the book selling business? What is the value of prestige if your books aren’t read?

July 31 update: it seems CUP has changed the date again. Now the Amazon page says October 31. Well. If you wait for something good, as we say in Sweden, you can never wait too long.
